Description:

The $157 Million JP 9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) is a high priority, joint service, Major Capital Equipment (MCE) project that will provide initial helicopter training for all Navy and Army aircrew (Pilot, Observer and Air crewmen). The new HATS will better prepare aircrew for conversion to the advanced Australian Defence Force (ADF) operational helicopters. The HATS is intended to be a component of a holistic ADF aircrew training continuum in which trainees with no helicopter aviation experience are developed into fully mission capable frontline helicopter aircrew.

Wilken’s involvement includes:

Synthetic Training Facility (STF)

  • Supply and establish a new 2 x 750kVA kiosk substation and HV cable extension to supply power to the new STF building.
  • New electrical power distribution (switchboards, sub main cabling and support network) and associated electrical cupboard and room.
  • Four earthing networks, an MEN building earth, comms earth, parking position earthing points and a dedicated secure specialist equipment earth.
  • Standalone Energy Monitoring System (EMS) for monitoring and reporting purposes
  • New luminaires, general power and specialised power outlets
  • Uninterruptable Power Supply for Simulator motion and computer systems
  • Emergency and exit egress lighting
  • External lighting for pedestrian access and carpark lighting
  • Lightning protection and associated earthing connection.

 

Live Training Facility

  • Power to serve Essential operating equipment during refurbishment of Asset 402 is to be provided from MSB in Asset 403.
  • Investigate and disconnect any items remaining of the LV electrical infrastructure, and make building safe for demolition Subcontractor.
  • Supply and install new power distribution boards (switchboards, sub mains cabling and support network) and associated electrical cupboard and room.
  • Provide three earthing networks, MEN building earth, communications earth and a dedicated secure specialist equipment earth.
  • New luminaires, general power and specialised power outlets
  • Emergency stop system for battery room, and the avionics workshop.
  • Emergency and exit egress lighting.
  • External lighting.
  • Lightning protection and associated earthing.

Living In Accommodation

  • Extend LV power from existing substation
  • New electrical power distribution (switch boards, sub main cabling and support network) and associated electrical cupboard.
  • Standalone Energy Monitoring System (EMS) for monitoring and reporting purposes
  • Two earthing networks, an MEN building earth and communications earth, and a luminaires, general power and specialised power outlet.
  • Emergency & Exit egress lighting
  • External lighting for carpark, pedestrian access and security CCTV coverage.
  • Lightning protection and associated earthing connection.

Jervis Bay Airfield

  • Disconnection of LV power to the toilet block (Asset 135) and shed building (Asset 136) and make safe for removal by demolition Subcontractor.
  • Extend LV power from existing services pillar within in ground pit and duct network
  • New electrical power distribution (switchboards, sub main cabling and support network) and associated electrical cupboard.
  • Two earthing networks, an MEN building earth and communications earth, and a luminaires, general power and specialised power outlet.
  • Emergency & Exit egress lighting
  • External lighting for carpark, pedestrian access including pathway lighting
  • Lightning protection and associated earthing
